B.A. 2D Studio
As long as I can remember I have always been drawn to the arts. As a child I was always drawing or coloring. I have never been the most athletic person. I have always had a passion for the arts. Art has always been something I could confide in, because I have been struggling with anxiety disorder and low self-esteem since a very young age. Art has helped me with feeling happy and less anxious. When painting or drawing I get a feeling of complete nirvana. I have used my issues with anxiety as a driving force for creating my artwork. When sitting down in front of a canvas or a piece of paper with any type of art tool whether it is a paintbrush or pencil I become my true and confident self.
When I start a piece I don’t feel as though I need to tell a story with what I am putting on to the paper, but I do want my audience to feel an emotional response of their own. I use a limited color palate to keep everything balance and controlled, because I feel often because of my anxiety I don’t feel in control or balanced during a stress induced situation in my life. So when using a limited palate I feel that my art is something that is controlled and causes a calm feeling rush through my body. My limited palate is normally bright and colorful. This relates back to how art makes me feel when I’m creating a piece. Also how I would not just like myself to feel happier or less anxious but also for my audience to feel after they look at my artwork.
