B.A. 3D Studio
As a 3D artist I find satisfaction in the incorporation of a variety of materials. Working in mediums such as wood, ceramics, and glass requires ample time and patience, thus serving as a form of self-meditation. These materials have the capacity to be unforgiving and dangerous which makes the physical realization of my creative energy a gratifying experience.
Family and friends have consistently been a driving force in both my life and art. My mother who has passed and my nephew, born shortly thereafter, are prominent subjects in my current work, much of which alludes to my mother’s ability to continue to unite the family while simultaneously dissipating from our lives.
“The Stems of my Roots” is intended to impress disorientation on the viewer while also evoking a sense of growth and cyclicality. Trees are widely recognized symbols for the family unit. My tree is upside down and “uprooted,” yet continuing to show growth and harbor life, an image greatly symbolic of my personal familial experiences.
