B.A. 3D Studio
I aspire to penetrate the mundanity of everyday life with ceramic art. In a culture of ready-made wares, ceramic furnishings are often overlooked and undervalued whereas hand-made ceramics demand attention. I believe the marriage of elegance, simplicity, function, and the artist’s hand lends to the aesthetic enrichment of familiar space.
With my pieces, I aim to create a subtle gravity that beckons hands to their surfaces. Whether through the curvature and undulation of the walls of a mug or the markings established by the movement of glaze on a bowl’s surface, the goal is for one’s eye to tell the hands to take a closer look. There is a beautifully obscure intimacy amongst our bodies, food and drink, and the vessels that bridge their physical separation. With this in mind, I aim to produce ceramic pieces that pique our senses, inviting exploration of everyday objects and their significance to the self.
